I’ve been thinking about how conversations really open—or don’t—at work.
Sometimes we fill every bit of space. More words. More slides. More explaining. And we think that helps. Often, it does the opposite.
I was reminded of this by a scientist who had to give a presentation and decided to do something unusual. Instead of the usual fifty slides, he used five.
That small choice changed everything. People stayed engaged. They thought. They questioned. They added. The conversation came alive.
